Kaira van Wijk, journalist & podcast host
‘Many relatives are artists so this seemed like a natural path for me to explore as well. I can’t really pinpoint why, but as a child I always wanted to be a war reporter. That sort of faded away when I went to art academy. With a background in art and later literature, I found that most of all I’m captivated by people, and what drives people in fields of creation and innovation. As a journalist, writer and editor my work is at the intersection of aesthetics and activism, style and spirituality, design and culture, intersectional environmentalism and new technology, the past and the future. In my early twenties I interned at fashion publication Harper’s Bazaar in Singapore and art collective Visionaire in New York City. Today I have carved out a niche for myself where I feel I excel in interviews, giving voice to those who are rarely heard in the mainstream media – whether that be through a print story, in a podcast or for a commercial project.’
